Shem Phillips has been churning out good games for years. As well as his trilogy of North Sea games, he’s been working away at the West Kingdom series. 2018’s Architects of the West Kingdom has be followed by Paladins, a slightly heavier worker placement Euro.

There’s something about games set in tropical waters that I just love. I bought Merchants and Marauders back in the day, I was instantly drawn to Macao, I love Jamaica. So when I heard about a game set in the Caribbean, a Eurogame, one in the top 100 on BoardGameGeek, it was already pretty much a must-buy before I knew much about it.

Nusfjord is a special game for me, it’s the first game I bought after returning to the hobby after a seven-year hiatus. That in itself doesn’t make it a good game, of course, but the good news is that it is a good game. In fact, it’s a great game.
